Hello to anyone and everyone that may be reading this blog post.
I guess you can say I am new to this. I read blog posts all of the time from my favorite author's and readers alike.
I thought, since I am launching a website, I may as well use this time to post something. So...her goes!
I have spent ten plus years writing novels, never believing that I was talented enough to be published. After finally gaining the courage to send out my manuscript along with hundreds (yes hundreds) of query letters, a publisher finally said yes.
I heard tons of rejects from the kind ones saying they liked my work but it wasn't for them, to the mean ones basically telling me I sucked.
However, I finally did it. I became a published author. Now, please don't think that means everything came easy. No, this is a difficult journey. I am constantly writing, editing, marketing, and basically begging people to read my novels. Trust me, I am keeping my day job because it doesn't look like I will be the next millionaire author anytime soon.
I guess I keep doing it, because I love writing. Even more, I love reading good stories and I want to create stories that I would want to read.
If you are reading this and you are a writer but think your work isn't good enough, then my advice to you is simple. Just keep at it.
Write your stories. Send them to agents and publishers who fit your genre and are actively seeking submissions. What's the worst that could happen? They could say no and turn you down? Well, if that's the case you haven't lost anything have you? If you don't try you will never know.
I hope to keep this blog thing up, if I can find the time between my crazy kids, husband, two dogs, and life as a teacher.
Hope you enjoyed, but I have a rotten little two year old boy snuggling up to me now, so I have to go now. Thanks for reading,
